Porno for Pyros, an iconic American alternative rock band, emerged in 1992 from the ashes of Jane's Addiction's initial breakup. The group, rooted in Los Angeles, California, currently comprises Perry Farrell (vocals) and Stephen Perkins (drums), both former members of Jane's Addiction, as well as founding members Peter DiStefano (guitar) and Martyn LeNoble (bass). Notably, bassist Mike Watt was part of the band from 1995 to 1998, with intermittent appearances in 2020 and 2022.

Their journey includes the release of two studio albums, "Porno for Pyros" (1993) and "Good God's Urge" (1996), before going on hiatus in 1998. A turning point occurred in 2009 when the original lineup reunited for Perry Farrell's 50th birthday celebration. The year 2020 marked another reunion, featuring the Watt-era lineup, for the Lolla2020 event, broadcast on YouTube during global COVID-19 lockdowns. History unfolded with the band's formation in 1992 by Perry Farrell and Stephen Perkins after Jane's Addiction disbanded. With the addition of guitarist Peter DiStefano and bassist Martyn LeNoble, Porno for Pyros was born, its name inspired by an advertisement for fireworks in an adult magazine. Their eponymous debut album, released in 1993, received immense anticipation and briefly reached the No. 3 spot on the Billboard top 200 list. Hits like "Pets" garnered heavy airplay on MTV. Unlike Jane's Addiction's rock-oriented performances, Porno for Pyros' shows featured elaborate props, extras, and special effects, creating a unique live experience.

In 1995, for their follow-up album, "Good God's Urge," Mike Watt joined the band, replacing Martyn LeNoble partway through the recording process. The album also featured a reunion between Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro, who contributed to " Freeway," and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band embarked on extensive tours, initially with Watt on bass and later with Flea, accompanied by Dave Navarro on guitar.

However, the band's journey faced obstacles when Peter DiStefano was diagnosed with cancer, halting further tours. Perkins, Watt, and DiStefano pursued other musical projects, including Banyan and Stooges cover sets under the name Hellride.

In 2009, the original lineup reunited for Perry Farrell's 50th birthday event. Hints of further reunions surfaced over the years, but it wasn't until 2020 that Porno for Pyros, featuring the Watt-era lineup, officially regrouped for the Lolla2020 broadcast. This reunion rekindled the creative spark, leading to the development of new material.

In 2022, the band made headlines when Perry Farrell and Stephen Perkins, alongside Martyn LeNoble and Peter DiStefano, reunited Porno for Pyros for their first major public performances in over 24 years. These events culminated in a full reunion of the original lineup at Welcome to Rockville, marking an exciting new chapter for the band.
