DVBBS Biography

DVBBS, stylized in all caps as DVBBS and pronounced as "dubs," is a Canadian production duo that emerged in 2012. Comprising brothers Christopher van den Hoef and Alexandre van den Hoef, this dynamic pair has made significant strides in the world of electronic music.

Hailing from Orangeville, Ontario, Christopher and Alexandre Van den Hoef have a diverse heritage; their father is Dutch, while their mother is of Greek Canadian descent. This multicultural background has undoubtedly contributed to the richness and variety of their musical influences. In addition to their Canadian roots, the duo lived in Athens, Greece, for an extended period. They currently call both Los Angeles, California, and Toronto, Ontario, their homes and are under the management of Josh Herman at STRVCTVRE Artist Management.

DVBBS burst onto the scene with their debut extended play, "Initio," which was released in March 2012. This EP showcased their versatility, drawing inspiration from an eclectic mix of genres, including house, electronic, dubstep, and reggae.

The turning point in DVBBS' career arrived in 2013 with the release of their chart-topping single, "Tsunami." This track became their first certified hit, achieving platinum status and amassing over 1 billion streams. In 2014, the vocal mix of "Tsunami," titled "Tsunami (Jump)," featuring British rapper Tinie Tempah, soared to the top of the UK Singles and UK Dance charts. This achievement made DVBBS one of only 13 Canadian artists to claim the coveted #1 spot on the Official UK Singles Chart. Notably, DVBBS boasts 12 platinum singles, including hits like "Tinted Eyes," "West Coast," "IDWK," and their iconic "Tsunami," which secured a Juno Awards nomination for Dance Recording of the Year in 2018.

While their claim to fame began with "Tsunami," DVBBS' journey continued with a string of hits, cementing their status in the electronic music scene. Their debut album, titled "Sleep," was released on October 22, 2021, further showcasing their evolution as artists.

DVBBS is not just about studio success; they are also renowned for their electrifying live performances. With more than 750 shows in the past five years, they rank among the top live acts in the world of dance music. They have graced the stages of the world's premier festivals and shared them with luminaries like Tiësto, NERVO, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Showtek, Sander Van Doorn, and DJ Snake, among others. Their presence has illuminated festivals like Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, and Creamfields, solidifying their position as influential figures in the electronic music landscape.
